ERSUC ensures Selective Multi-material Collection in the 36 municipalities within its area of operation, either through Selective Collection at Recycling Bins, Selective Door-to-Door Domestic Collection, or Selective Collection at Retail and Service Establishments in some municipalities within its area of operation.
ERSUC has installed a total of 5,835 recycling bins in its area of operation, reaching a density of 160 inhabitants per recycling bin.
The selective collection of waste deposited in recycling bins is organised by circuits, with each material being collected separately. Each circuit operates according to a pre-established frequency, taking into account the number of containers in each circuit and their production.
This collection takes place at the following times:
ERSUC selectively collects recyclable urban waste in predefined circuits in the municipalities of Aveiro and Coimbra through a door-to-door collection system (PAP). ERSUC has named this service RECICLAGEM À PORTA (door-to-door recycling).
The population served by DOOR-TO-DOOR RECYCLING has been provided with 120-litre containers for recycling paper/cardboard (blue lid), plastic/metal packaging/beverage cartons (yellow lid) and glass packaging (green lid).
The bins are then collected by ERSUC according to a set weekly schedule. This schedule identifies the type of waste collected, the day and the time of collection for each bin.
ERSUC also provides the COMÉRCIO A RECICLAR (RECYCLING FOR BUSINESSES) service, the PAP Collection, which is available free of charge and aims to collect recyclable waste produced by small businesses in specific areas of some cities within ERSUC's area of operation.
This initiative aims to promote the increase in the selective collection of recyclable materials, namely paper and cardboard packaging, plastic/metal/beverage cartons and glass, which will thus be diverted from undifferentiated waste containers or prevent them from being abandoned outside recycling bins.
