ERSUC has two Support Landfills located at the Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Treatment and Recovery Centres in Aveiro and Coimbra.

The waste from the MBT and the Sorting Station is deposited in the support landfills. Although all waste with potential for recycling and recovery is separated during biological treatment and at the sorting station, there is always a very small fraction of waste that cannot be recovered in any way, known as refuse.

This facility consists of modelling the terrain and waterproofing it in waste confinement cells equipped with all the necessary infrastructure for the correct environmental disposal of waste, namely separate rainwater and wastewater drainage networks. Wastewater is treated at the TMB Treatment Plant and then introduced into the process of that unit as process water, ensuring its correct management.
